Employment Pass

If your company has sent you to work in Singapore, you may be eligible for a Work Pass, which includes a Singapore Employment Pass (EP). Here’s everything you need to know about applying for an EP.
What is an employment pass?

The Employment Pass (EP) is a Singapore work visa issued by the Ministry of Manpower to foreign professional employees, managers and owners or directors of Singapore companies. This work visa allows you to live and work in Singapore, as well as travel in and out of the country without the need for an entry visa.

An Employment Pass is usually valid for 1-2 years, after which it can be renewed. Having an EP also makes you eligible to apply for Singapore’s Permanent Residency (PR) status in the future.

How do I get an employment pass?

To qualify for a Singapore Employment Pass, you will need to.

  • A job opportunity is available in Singapore.
  • Working in a managerial, executive or professional role.
  • A fixed monthly salary of at least S$4,500 (older, more experienced candidates will require a higher salary).
  • Have an acceptable qualification, usually a good university degree, professional qualification or professional skills.

Please note that these are general guidelines – the authority will review all employment pass applications before approving them. There is no limit to the number of EPs awarded to employees Singapore companies.
